Spend National Drink Beer Day With Us

Here’s a holiday we can raise a glass to.

National Drink Beer Day is Sept. 28. What better place to spend it than in Myrtle Beach? Occurring at the end of Oktoberfest season – a 16- to 18-day folk festival – National Drink Beer Day is an appreciation of one of the world’s most popular beverages.

(National Drink Beer Day is not to be confused with National Beer Day. That comes every April 7, commemorating the Cullen-Harrison Act of 1933, which legalized the sale of beer with an alcohol content of 3.2% by weight. So without National Beer Day, there would be no National Drink Beer Day.)

Myrtle Beach Beer Laws

It’s worth noting here laws that concern beer in Myrtle Beach. As in many states, it’s illegal for those younger than 21 to buy, possess, or consume alcoholic beverages. State law prohibits open containers of beer, wine, or liquor from public places, such as beach areas, sidewalks, and streets. You can buy packaged liquor from 9 am. to 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday. You can buy packaged beer and wine at any time.

Tips and Reminders for National Beer Day in Myrtle Beach

1. Visit The Market Common and Check Out the Bars

The Market Common is a lifestyle center on 114 acres in Myrtle Beach. It’s easily walkable, full of stellar shops and excellent restaurants, and you can even live there. For a cold beer, we suggest a stop at 810 Billiards & Bowling, where you can bowl a frame, partake in a game of chess, toss some darts, and enjoy a cold craft beer on draft.

2. Enjoy a Cold Drink on the Beach During the Day

Even in September, things are sunny and warm in Myrtle Beach. And although we couldn’t advocate an open container in a public space (or sneaking in anything in a thermos), there are other ways to stay cool in the sun. Coconut water is a delicious way to stay hydrated on the beach, and if you like something that looks fancy and tastes great, try Tropical Sunshine.

3. Enjoy a Beer on Your Balcony During Sunset

A cool pilsner and the setting sun – what a combination. No matter how you spend your day in Myrtle Beach, unwind with your favorite brew in the comfort of your resort balcony. We suggest frosting a mug or two in the freezer by day and filling them with your favorite beer to enjoy the start of your evening.

4. Have a Beer at the Crow’s Nest Restaurant with an Ocean View

How awesome is it to have a brew with a view of Myrtle Beach? That’s what you’ll get at Crow’s Nest. Order an appetizer or two for your own happy hour. (The made-to-order pizzas are boss.) Located in Compass Cove Resort, Crow’s Nest is a great option onsite to celebrate National Drink Beer Day. You’re right on the Grand Strand without having to leave your resort.
