Compass Cove Oceanfront Resort guests can literally take their Myrtle Beach vacations to the next level this summer with a high-flying new attraction in the heart of the downtown district.

Sky Rider Park, a hot-air balloon ride that takes passengers high above the Sun Fun City, is one of many new fun things to do during your summer vacation to the scenic South Carolina coast.

Located on the former Myrtle Beach Pavilion site, which is know known as the Burroughs & Chapin Pavilion Place, at the corner of Ocean Boulevard and Eighth Avenue North, Sky Rider Park gives visitors the chance to get a bird’s eye view of the Atlantic Ocean and downtown Myrtle Beach area and to experience the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to ride in a hot-air balloon.

The colorful balloon, which is 62 feet in diameter, is tethered to the ground but elevates passengers to as high as 300 feet in the air. The spacious gondola can carry as many as 20 passengers for a short ride to the top, which towers over the nearby Myrtle Beach SkyWheel, the historic Swamp Fox roller coaster, and all the high-rise resorts along the oceanfront.

Patrons can take some incredible photos from their perch high above the city, which has experienced tremendous growth in recent years. Here are a few other new attractions for 2019:

* The Simpsons in 4D: The latest addition to Broadway at the Beach’s entertainment lineup is America’s favorite animated TV family – “The Simpsons”. The longest running animated series in television history has found a new home in Myrtle Beach, or more accurately, has brought a small slice of life in the fictional and dysfunctional town of Springfield to Myrtle Beach.

Featuring a replica of the Kwik-E-Mart, where Homer regularly loads up on tasty treats, Simpsons in 4D gives patrons a rare chance to snack on the same Lard Lad Donuts and Heat-Lamp Hot Dogs. Wash it down with a Buzz Cola and make your way to the Aztec Theatre to catch a special flick featuring The Simpsons, including special character appearances by the whole family.

* TopGolf: Myrtle Beach is famous for golf, and this national chain adds a new dimension to the booming golf industry. Offering both golfers and non-golfers alike a fun experience, TopGolf features a series of target-practice games where players can compete in a casual atmosphere while enjoying an array of food and beverage options. Groups can rent bays by the hour.

* Lulu’s Mountain of Youth: One year after opening a location at Barefoot Landing, Lucy Buffett’s Lulu’s added a new feature in the Mountain of Youth ropes course and arcade. Located on the banks of the Intracoastal Waterway, the tropical-themed ropes course offers the brave at heart to swing from ropes and ride ziplines on the tower. The arcade also offers fun for all.

* Restaurants: Visitors will find a variety of new dining options this summer, including the much-anticipated opening of 44 & King. The Southern-style brew pub offers a wide selection of classic comfort foods with a modern twist and an impressive lineup of craft beers and wines on tap. 44 & King’s grand opening is set for May.

Another unique new arrival is The Sneaky Beagle, where patrons can bring their pets for a refreshing drink or a bite to eat. Offering both human and canine food options, The Sneaky Beagle is the area’s first dog-friendly restaurant and is located in the Carolina Forest section of town.

Guests at Compass Cove Oceanfront Resort can also enjoy all the usual fun things to do in Myrtle Beach, both on and off the property. Enjoy a day of fun and relaxation on the beach and water slides or in the pools and lazy river at the resort, and experience all the great attractions, shopping, dining and entertainment during your summer vacation to Myrtle Beach.
