You don't have to be a meteorologist to know the typical weather forecast for Myrtle Beach this summer. It's going to be hot, and that's just the way you like it. Fortunately for guests at Compass Cove Resort, we've got plenty of ways to help you cool down when the temperatures start to rise. Here are five fun ways to chill out in the hot summer sun on your Myrtle Beach vacation:

Amenities: Guests at Compass Cove don't have to leave the property to find all the thrills and chills of a real water park. The Compass Cruiser and Schooner Screamer waterslides splash down into one of two indoor pools on the premises. If you prefer being out in the sun, Compass Cove has four outdoor pools spread throughout the property, so you are never far from a refreshing dip. For the little ones, there are five kiddie pools and aquatic playgrounds, including the Silly Submarine Splash Deck. And for the ultimate way to relax and keep cool, cruise down one of our three lazy rivers.

Beach: Compass Cove guests have easy access to the beach, where the sea breeze offers relief on even the sunniest days. But the best way to beat the heat on the beach is with a splash in the Atlantic Ocean, which is the perfect temperature to cool you off on a summer day. Play in the surf, splash in the waves or go for an invigorating swim when the sun starts beating down on you. Surfing, bodyboarding and good, old-fashioned bodysurfing are great ways to have fun while also staying cool.

Cold drinks: Not only does Compass Cove have options for keeping you cool on the outside, we also offer ways to help you chill out on the inside. Serving a wide selection of frozen daiquiris and cold drinks, the on-site Crow’s Nest Restaurant and the poolside Tiki Hut provide sweet relief from the summer heat. Try our house special Voodoo Bucket, a blend of rum, fruit juices and ice that can be shared by everyone in your crew. For those who prefer frozen refreshments, try a Miami Vice, a mix of our piña colada and our strawberry daiquiri. The kids can enjoy virgin versions of our frozen drinks, or go for some ice cream.

Shopping: On those days that are just too hot to be outside, or when the threat of afternoon showers forces everyone indoors, it's a good time to knock out some shopping. The Grand Strand has several climate-controlled malls where you can get in some retail therapy. Open-air retail complexes like Broadway at the Beach, Barefoot Landing and Market Common offer air-conditioned shops and restaurants where you can take frequent cool-down breaks.

Water parks: If you want to check out a water park off the Compass Cove premises, you have lots of good options. Myrtle Waves, South Carolina's largest waterpark, is located near Broadway at the Beach and features 20 waterslides, speed chutes and flumes. The new Flow-Rider surfing simulator gives the more adventurous visitors another thrill ride, while the wave pool, lazy river, kiddie pools and playgrounds provide low-speed fun. Best of all, Compass Cove guests receive one free adult admission as part of our Sun Fun Bonus program, so your family can save big bucks just by staying with us. Other local water parks include Splashes in downtown Myrtle Beach and Wild Water and Wheels in Garden City Beach.

Of course, the most obvious place to cool down is in your cozy room at Compass Cove Resort. Enjoy the sea breeze on your oceanfront balcony, or escape to the air conditioning and chill out in your vacation home away from home. It’s all part of the Compass Cove experience to make the most of your Myrtle Beach vacation.
