You really don’t need to know much to have a great time in Myrtle Beach in the spring. Hit the beach, add some sunshine and viola – instant fun.

But for Compass Cove Oceanfront Resort guests who want to get the most out of their spring retreat to Myrtle Beach, we’ve compiled some helpful facts and tips to sprinkle a little more sunshine on your experience. Where to go? What to do? Where to park? What to pack? We’ve got you covered:

Festivals: After a long winter’s nap, the Grand Strand’s social scene springs to life in the spring season, beginning with the Myrtle Beach Marathon (March 2), the Can-Am Days Festival (March 9-17), and the North Myrtle Beach St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Festival (March 16). Ensuing events include the Run for the Sun Car Show (March 21), the Monday After the Masters Celebrity Pro-Am (April 15), Art in the Park (April 27-28), the SOS Spring Safari (April 25-May 4), the Myrtle Beach Food Truck Festival (April 26-28), Mayfest on Main (May 11) and the World Famous Blue Crab Festival (May 18-19). Pick your favorites and plan your spring getaway accordingly.

Freebies: Compass Cove Oceanfront Resort gives guests a packet of complimentary passes and discounts to some of the Grand Strand’s top attractions. As part of our Brittain Rewards spring program, guests who stay between March 3 and June 1 receive one free pass per room to Broadway Grand Prix go-kart racing complex, Brookgreen Gardens botanical sculpture garden, and The Simpsons in 4D, the latest attraction at Broadway at the Beach. For those rainy days, use your Brittain Rewards to check out unlimited free DVDs.

Golf: The spring golf season is the peak time to play one of the Grand Strand’s 80-plus courses. Featuring lovely Lowcountry courses, beautiful beachfront courses and inland layouts nestled amid scenic wetlands and woodlands, golfers have plenty of choices to test their skills on some of the best championship links in the country. Book a Stay & Play package and save on tee times and accommodations at Compass Cove Oceanfront Resort. For those who prefer the putt-putt version of the sport, mini-golf courses begin to open in droves in the spring.

Parking: Finding a parking spot around town really isn’t a problem compared to the busier summer months, however, there are a few tips that can save you from getting a parking ticket. Metered parking at various spots throughout the city take effect March 1 from 9 a.m. to midnight, mostly at beach accesses and along city streets. The new meters take credit cards, and there are lots of paid public parking garages in the downtown district. Better yet, check out the local public transit, Coast RTA (coastrta.com), for routes to The Market Common, Broadway at the Beach, the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk and more.

Weather: Shorts or jeans? T-shirts or sweaters? Sunscreen or socks? In short, yes, all of the above. While the average temperatures sound warm and sunny (March 65 high/47 low, April 73 high/55 low, and May 79 high/63 low), the weather is far from average. Come prepared for warm days, cool nights and occasional spring showers, and don’t forget to bring a light windbreaker for the ocean breeze. Of course, always come prepared to get wet and have fun at Compass Cove’s indoor water amenities. The weather also impacts the opening of some warm-weather attractions around town, like a more active Alligator Adventure, a blooming Brookgreen Gardens, and more luck on deep-sea fishing trips.

Now that you know what’s up, the only thing left to do is book your spring vacation at Compass Cove Oceanfront Resort and pack your bags for good times in Myrtle Beach.
