With the beach only steps away and Kings Highway only two blocks inland, guests at Compass Cove Resort have lots of dining, shopping and entertainment options within walking distance and short drives of our Myrtle Beach hotel.
In addition to the many amenities on-site at the resort compound, visitors can find plenty to see and do in the neighborhood. Here are some of the nearby highlights you can reach by hike, bike or vehicle:
Dining: One of the best dining experiences in Myrtle Beach is just a short stroll down the beach to Damon’s Oceanfront Grill. While most beachfront restaurants focus on seafood, Damon’s is all about ribs – big, meaty BBQ ribs – and lots of them. Other walking-distance favorites include Angelo’s, which boasts the “Greatest Steaks in the Universe”, and Manny's New York Deli on Kings Highway.
Attractions: If you like golf, especially the affordable variety, you’ve come to the right place. Compass Cove is a short walk to the Midway Par-3 and short drive to Whispering Pines, the only municipal course in Myrtle Beach. For families who prefer the miniature variety, there are several putt-putt courses close by, including the indoor/outdoor Cancun Lagoon for those rainy or too-hot summer days and nights.
Shopping: One of the best things about staying on the south end of Myrtle Beach is the easy access to Market Common. This urban-style shopping district has blossomed into an active neighborhood of shops, as well as restaurants, parks and a theater. For essentials, there’s a Food Lion grocery store and a Dollar General nearby for all the basics.
Nightlife: It’s a bit of a hike to the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk and parking may be a deterrent to driving, but catch a cab or a trolley to the new centerpiece of the downtown Myrtle Beach social scene. Along the 1.2-mile walkway, several oceanfront bars and restaurants have sprung up to accommodate the growing crowds. Guests can also check out Market Common after hours, as well, where popular gathering spots like King Street Grill, Nacho Hippo and Gordon Biersch Brewery are great places to gather.
Nature: Just south of Compass Cove is Myrtle Beach State Park, a scenic oceanfront setting with nature trails and undeveloped beaches. The nature center has educational programs for kids and a fishing pier provides the chance to hook a big one. Oceanfront picnic shelters are the perfect place to take a break and refuel during a day at the beach.
