Paula Deen Brings Southern Cuisine to Broadway at the Beach’s Expanded Dining Lineup

Paula Deen, who along with her sons owns and operates a restaurant empire based out of Savannah, Georgia, is delivering her latest concept to her neighbors on the South Carolina coast. Located at Broadway at the Beach, only a short drive from Compass Cove Oceanfront Resort, Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen offers something new and different for Myrtle Beach locals and visitors.

In fact, Compass Cove guests can check out several new restaurants and a summer-long festival at Broadway at the Beach this summer. Other eateries opening in June include Dave & Buster’s and Carolina Ale House, and the month also marks the start of the Summer Nights at Broadway entertainment series. Here’s a sneak preview of what’s new at Broadway at the Beach for guests at Compass Cove to enjoy:

* Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen: Bring the family and a hearty appetite for this new dining concept, which loads your table with some of Deen’s favorite recipes and allows patrons to pass around dishes just like they do over Sunday dinners back at home.

Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen introduces true “family style” dining to the Broadway at the Beach restaurant scene, beginning with a traditional country breakfast and followed by a Southern supper served for lunch and dinner. Deen’s classic recipes, such as fried chicken, smothered steak and gravy, and all the comfort-food fixings, are delivered to your table for sharing so that patrons can enjoy good conversation and some quality family time over a tasty spread.

Patrons can also visit the adjoining company store to shop for a wide variety of culinary items endorsed by Deen, such as cookbooks, kitchen gadgets, decor and gifts for folks back home. Guests can also take leftovers back to Compass Cove for a little home cooking in your vacation home on the Myrtle Beach oceanfront.

* Dave & Buster’s: This national chain of arcades/sports bars finally made its Grand Strand debut in June, bringing the food-and-game craze to the next level at Broadway at the Beach. Taking over the spot previously occupied by the Hard Rock Cafe pyramid, Dave & Buster’s delivers a family-friendly establishment to the Celebrity Square entertainment lineup.

Dave & Buster’s motto – “Eat, Drink, Play & Watch Sports!” – covers all the bases about this booming business, which offers great food and drink menus in the different settings of the dining room, patio deck and sports bar. Patrons can catch the big game on one of the many flat-screen TVs while enjoying cold drinks and hot food, or visit the massive arcade that has all the latest video games and old-timey amusements, from Star Wars and Transformers to Skee Ball and billiards tables.

* Carolina Ale House: This brewpub offers a lot more than beer. In addition to its impressive selection of microbrews, Carolina Ale House’s hand-crafted food menu provides a nice 1-2 punch to the taste buds.

Located on the site of the defunct Planet Hollywood, Carolina Ale House injects some excitement into the scene across 29th Avenue North from the main Broadway at the Beach property. The sports bar provides great TV viewing, more than 60 types of draft beers and an extensive pub-fare menu, including wings and Zingers, a crispy and spicy chicken-finger specialty. The dining area and patio deck also serve steaks, seafood, salads, sandwiches and more.

Whether you decide to try one of the many new restaurants or stick with an old favorite, you can cap dinner with a free concert, entertainment and fireworks (most Tuesdays and Fridays) at the Summer Nights at Broadway festival. It’s just one more fun way for Compass Cove guests to spend an evening out on the town in Myrtle Beach.
