If you’ve been flying to Myrtle Beach for a number of years, there is no way you’ll miss the new terminal at the Myrtle Beach International Airport, which opened to passengers earlier this month.
Bright, clean and spacious, it’s got a “wow” factor like never before.
With 24,000 square feet of passenger space in the terminal and concourse, an increase in the number of departure gates from seven to 13, and three new ground loading positions, this is a major overhaul for the Myrtle Beach Airport. The airport also updated its baggage handling system and created a new rental car facility with a pedestrian canopy, as well as expanded the parking lot and roadway circulation and access.
There are now more kiosks for passenger check-in, which should help speed up getting to your gate on time. Golfers will love the longer baggage belts, which were specifically designed with golf bags in mind. Passengers also love the new restaurants at the airport, including a Nacho Hippo. This funky establishment serves up fun southern twists on Mexican fare, including the Carolina Kid taco with pulled pork and the Tree Hugger veggie nachos.
"Before, the (old terminal) was kind of small and old, and now the kids couldn't believe when they walked in, all the space there was," Faith Fratto from Pittsburgh told a local news team.
