Alabama Theatre provides Breakers Resort guests with family-friendly entertainment
You are now here, and you have chosen the Breakers Resort as your vacation abode. And with its three facilities – Paradise Tower, Breakers Resort Hotel and Boutique North Tower – you have found ideal lodging to fit your tastes.
Once you have settled in and satisfied yourself with your sustenance of choice, you are either ready for a nap or for some entertainment. If it is the latter, the Alabama Theatre can easily fill the bill. It’s about 20 minutes away, and it is worth the short drive.
Launched by none other than the iconic country music group known as Alabama, it is a theatre that provides a stage for singers, actors, dancers, comedians, variety shows and other forms of entertainment appropriate for all ages.
The theatre’s variety show, called “One,” runs from February through October each year. It is a production flavored with singing, dancing and comedy with the gusto and glam of similar shows in Las Vegas and on Broadway.
Tunes featured in “One” cover all genres of American music, including pop, soul, gospel and country. The artists are diverse as well. Locals, such as Myrtle Beach-based violinist Robert Napier, showcase their talent alongside performers from places like Belgium and England.
The “One” show is a high-energy production that can easily keep you entertained from beginning to end.
Once “One” ends for the season, Alabama Theatre cranks up its yearly production known as “The South’s Grandest Christmas Show.” It showcases the spirit of the holiday through beloved classics, as well as spirited new songs.
In addition to the regular presentation of “One,” Alabama Theatre also brings in a variety of entertainers to take over the stage when “One” performers take the night off. The Temptations, Smokey Robinson, Charley Pride, Randy Travis and others have all graced the stage at Alabama Theatre.
The Alabama Theatre is centrally located at Barefoot Landing, where retail shops and restaurants are plentiful. Therefore, you can literally walk from your show and head to one of the complex’s many stores and eateries to continue a fun-filled evening.
However, if you are tired and want to head back to the hotel, the comfort of the Breakers Resort will quickly embrace you.
You may want to stop and get a scoop of ice cream from the Ben & Jerry’s ice cream “Scoop Shop,” grab a bite to eat at Papa’s, mingle at The Red Parrot Café or sip on some java from Starbucks before heading back to the confines of your suite or condo.
The Breakers Resort Hotel, at 2006 N. Ocean Blvd., is situated along the oceanfront at 21st Ave. N., where shopping, dining and entertainment choices are plentiful. Guests also have an array of amenities including multiple pools and meeting facilities to accommodate groups of up to 150 people.
The Boutique North Tower, a few blocks north of the Breakers Resort Hotel, offers guests one, two or three room suites, a giant kiddie pool, a hot water whirlpool and an exercise room.
The newest of the three, the Breakers Paradise Tower, adjacent to the Breakers Resort Hotel, features a 418-foot Lazy River, several pools, whirlpools and a kiddie activity center.

Directions: Start out going northeast on N. Ocean Boulevard/SC-73 toward 6th Ave. N. Take the first left onto 6th Ave. N. Take the third right onto N. Kings Highway/U.S. 17-BR N. Continue to following N. Kings Highway. You will see Alabama Theatre on your left.
